Intercultural teacher training is a topic of growing interest in Italian pedagogical literature. This interest reflects the demographic and social changes that have made classrooms increasingly heterogeneous. The intercultural approach aims to prepare teachers to manage and enhance this diversity, promoting the inclusion and academic success of all students. Over the years, research in this field has evolved from an initial vision limited to the inclusion of minorities to a broader perspective that embraces cultural diversity as a resource for the entire educational community. This article aims to examine the main challenges and prospects of intercultural teacher training, analyzing educational policies, training practices and assessment of the necessary intercultural skills required of teachers and their impact on the integration of students from migrant backgrounds.
