Abstract

Abstract The article aims to reconstruct the genesis of the essay La grande disadattata that Bruno Ciari published, shortly before his death, in 1969, in the review ‘La riforma della scuola’. For his radical position against special classes and his proposal to make the whole school “special” through full-time school and the close collaboration between school, family and city, Ciari’s seems today an important historical juncture and, at the same time, a stimulus to rethink our relationship with concepts such as inclusion, normality, participation. This essay it is also intended to provide to provide an opportunity to reflect on the long-term nature of certain issues through the historical method often neglected in teacher training.
