Care for and respect of the public good are central to education for active citizenship and sustainability. Within the framework of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), the public good can be interpreted not only as a shared material resource, but also as a learning opportunity to develop responsibility, participation and the ability to envisage sustainable transformations. From this perspective, this paper presents the Ri-Lab co-design workshop: the regeneration and redesign of educational spaces on the theme ‘The park I would like’ as an educational tool aimed at promoting systemic, collaborative and design skills in primary schools. The analysis highlights how the co-design of public green spaces can support early forms of agency, ecological reflection and civic responsibility.
