Abstract

Abstract The paper presents the primary outcomes of an 'in-service' research-(training)action course carried out in a Comprehensive Institute in the province of Rome during the Covid period, aiming to increase the development of personal, social, and learning competence in teachers. We give an account of the two training steps carried out with the teachers: the first on soft skills and the second on learning to learn, conflict management, and peace education. Firstly, four interpretative categories of the data will present: 1. motivation and passion for the teaching profession, 2. the value of teaching experience prior to teaching and during teaching, 3. the relationship between teaching and the educating community, 4. educational responsibility as the basis of professional ethics. Secondly, we report what the teachers said about their relational and intercultural competencies and their value in their school educational work.
