Abstract

Abstract The article addresses the issue of building a widespread and sustainable educational ecosystem starting from the so-called 'school squares', i.e. the spaces in front of schools capable - through a clear educational intentionality - of connecting school, social community, territory and territorial agencies, also supporting the co-generation of community educational pacts. In this perspective, the city and its spaces become 'widespread educational classrooms' capable of promoting social cohesion, exchange between generations and educational innovation through a continuum between urban, architectural and pedagogical design, between formal education and the territory as an informal educational space. To constitute a widespread educational system means, in short, to generate sustainable learning environments in continuity between school and urban context in an osmotic and connective way.
