Abstract

Abstract Over the last few years, due to historical, social and cultural changes, the educational context and didactics have changed considerably; this has had a strong impact on students with disabilities and Special Educational Needs (BES) and it has been necessary to think and re-think about the design of inclusive educational interventions. In recent years, there has been a particularly growing interest in Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) soft-ware in education. Their success is said to be linked to the idea of simulation in that students are given the opportunity to confront a real-life situation in which they are faced with a problem and have to use their knowledge and skills to solve it. The latter can be seen as a valuable support for the promotion of inclusive teaching. There is no doubt that there is a need to reinvent and remodel the design of educational interventions. This is only possible through the experimentation of new teaching and learning strategies capable of placing the principle of inclusion at the centre.
