Abstract

AbstractStorytelling is a significant methodology in the teaching-learning process, fully involving the learner through self-knowledge and the knowledge of the world. Bruner already stated that schools must cultivate their own narrative capacity because storytelling has an important educational potential, transmitting practical knowledge capable of influencing human actions. The present contribution illustrates a didactic proposal used in a high school of Rome, that has tested the advantages deriving from storytelling for the transmission of social skills and emotional competence in a specific situation of disability, the Generalized Developmental Disorder. In fact, specific situations of disability seem to respond to this type of social interaction in which storytelling provides a contribution to linguistic and cognitive development, laying the foundations for the construction of social-emotional skills capable of promoting the creation of inclusive contexts.
