Abstract

This article presents the results of an action research study commissioned by the Genera Social Cooperative, which it financed using the fiscal tool of the tax credit after assuming the management of two preschools in the Milanese hinterland historically operated by the municipality. Absorbing all the municipal educational team into a new organisational configuration with the cooperative's educators generated a major management criticality due to a high level of conflict and poor acceptance of the new organisational management. The research study focused on reflecting with the participants on the role of diversity in the workplace and its impacts, positive and negative, on interpersonal relationships between the workers and consequently on educational practice. The action research methodology adopted made it possible to identify criticalities and modify practices during the research process itself and ultimately to draw up a protocol for managing diversity in the workplace.
