Abstract

This contribution describes a possible teaching practice of foreign language based on formative translation. It refers in particular to the experience of two Italian high schools and a German one within a European Erasmus+ project, of which the various phases of work are examined, from the selection of participants to the laboratory practice, from the formulation of the objectives to the final evaluation. Translation is considered as a process and not as a product, aimed at reflecting on the content of words and on the need to negotiate with the others the meaning to be attributed to things. The literary text as an expression of universal values and emotions becomes a place of meeting and exchange, the target language is perceived as a host language even by those non-Italian-speaking students who need to go through linguistic and cultural sharing to experience inclusion.
