Abstract

Many institutions, appointed to the strategic guidelines emanation of Physical Education (EF) in the educational field (CE, OECD, WHO, MIUR, INDIRE), both culturally and scientifically, are fully tuned to the idea that the body and the movement are not the only devices to achieve the student psychophysical well-being, but they acquire a weighty meaning within the teaching/learning process itself. The EF, in fact, although theoretically recognized as a methodological “glue”, in Italy is struggling to take off and acquire the deserved dignity. The present work, supported by latest neuroscientific studies on the Embodied Cognition, makes an examination of the state of the art of the EF in the school from which one should start, the primary, analyzing critical and strength points of the current academic training courses and envisaging interesting programmatic addresses on which to draw the attention of the scientific and pedagogical community.
