Abstract

The paper analyzes some aspects in the transformation of the Italian Children’s Literature during the First World War. During the wartime, the narrative for young people represented a cultural environment involved in the processes of mobilization of consciences as well as in modelling a new idea of national unity, fostered by an emotional tension due to the “sacrality” of the trial. The subjects prevailing in the children’s books show how the collective imagination was attracted by powerful sacral symbologies related to the contemporary spreading of the “Nazionalization of the Masses”.
