Note sulle interferenze linguistiche e testuali nella trasmissione manoscritta della Bibbia gotica

Abstract

The purpose of the following notes is to give insights into the process of textual transmission of the Gothic Bible, on the basis of two case studies, in order to identify readings in the manuscripts which may be scribal rather than authorial. The first case study focuses on a dual rendering in the parallel passages Mt 6:24 and Lk 16:13 and their marginal glosses in the Codex Argenteus. The second case study focuses on a peculiar rendering of a Greek participle in 1Tm 4:2 in Ambrosianus A, which is remarkable in that it does not represent the Greek but exactly corresponds to the Latin. My contention is that the manuscripts show changes brought about by contextual adaptations on the one hand, and by the influence of the Latin Bible on the other. These processes were, in all probability, carried out in the Ostrogothic Kingdom of Italy.
