In this paper I discuss the recent edition of Euripides’ Bacchae with introduction, translation and commentary by D. Susanetti (Roma, Carocci, 2010). In particular, through an active reading of this book, I focus on several relevant points, such as the translation of classical drama in a contemporary, easy-to-read and performable language, and the finalization of the exegesis of Greek texts addressed to a non-classicist or to a non Greek-reading public.Downloads
