La "parola azione": poesia e teatro in Yeats

Abstract

Starting from preceding revelations on W.B. Yeats, the essay is an attempt to loosen up some mysterious and intricate knots of his experience on theatre and poetry. Trying to open the way to a plural perspective on the practices of the Irish poet and to display the subterranean communication between theatre theory, dramatic writing, poetic writing, folkloric/anthropologic research, theatre practice and experimentation, is it possible to find out new traces that ask to be followed. The trace here is what we can call "word in action" as a key to detect three examples: Yeats' translations of Sophocles for the theatre, the passage from poetry to drama in some Yeats's composistions and Yeats' work on radio broadcasts from 1931 to 1938.
