Abstract

The essay analyzes the correspondence between Paola Baronchelli Grosson, also known with the pseudonym “Donna Paola”, and Senator Pietro Niccolini. Both personalities are quoted in the Italian Biographical Dictionary. This correspondence includes fifteen missives written from March 1909 to August 1910 and allows an in-depth analysis of the cultural milieu in the first decade of the 20th century. Moreover, the investigation into this correspondence provides the opportunity to define more precisely the social goals in support of female emancipation, which Paola Baronchelli Grosson promoted with her copious writings.
