Abstract
This essay examines the role of glass as a medium of cultural exchange between Europe and Japan from the 16th to the 19th century. Through the study of historical sources, material practices, and artistic representations, it highlights how glass, introduced through European merchants and missionaries, influenced Japanese culture in technological, scientific, and artistic domains. The analysis also shows how domestic glass production evolved into a symbol of integration between Western innovation and local craftsmanship traditions.
