La lingua litteraria di Guarino Veronese e la cultura teatrale a Ferrara nella prima metà del XV secolo

Abstract

The present paper reconstructs some of the main stages in the naissance and development of the theatrical culture in Ferrara in the first half of the fifteenth century, focusing investigation on the teaching of Guarino Veronese. The paper reveals the outlines of a cultural model that, by a comparison with the classics, defines its own features and its own way of communicating within the city. This model is investigated through a dual perspective, emic and etic. On the one hand, we analyse the constitutive complexity of its symbolic systems, demonstrating the polysemy of its ceremonial events, on the other hand we examine the dialectic relationship with the town's religious culture. Therefore, we contextualize and justify the subsequent insight argued by Ercole d'Este, consisting of the need to contaminate the languages and representative forms in order to apply a more effective strategy for political consensus.
