Abstract
In the historical archive of the Pio Albergo Trivulzio a very interesting document is preserved, a cabreo, which describes an ancient artificial river that flows in the Po Valley: the Regina Codogna canal. This document was drawn up in 1737 by Giovanni Angelo Cicognini, land surveyor, who also had the task of supervising the works to be carried out on the canal. He used this document for his work noting all the changes that occurred on the canal under his direction, and left it to his successors who used it in the same way. The practical purpose for which this cabreo was created makes it a unique example and allows us to see the evolution of the course of the canal for more than a century.
